Bathroom Exhaust Fans

When was the last time you inspected and cleaned your bath fan?  All bathroom exhaust fans should be inspected and cleaned regularly.  Make sure to always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the process of inspecting and cleaning the specific bath fan in your residence.  Over time, lint can build up and insulate the motor, which can provide a fuel source that ignites nearby combustible materials.  It is best practice to remove the bathroom exhaust fan cover, check for dust/lint build up, and immediately remove based on manufacturer’s recommendations.  Wash the fan cover in warm soapy water to remove all lint and make sure cover is completely dry before putting it back up.  For a fan that isn’t operating as it should, it is best practice to contact an electrician for assistance.
