The American Heart Association (AHA) states that providing chest compressions only, for the first few minutes of CPR, is sufficient when someone is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. High quality chest compressions circulate the remaining oxygen throughout body to keep vital organs alive. Providing high quality chest compressions can help buy time for emergency medical responders to arrive and help.
